The butterfly king tells the story of a caterpillar, from its start as an egg to its transformation into a monarch butterfly; along the way the video's central character must overcome hazards ranging from predatory spiders to menacing lawn equipment; Mr. Larcheveque, the filmmaker, also won a Fuji Film Award through his college's Honors program.
I just wanted to compliment you on your educational video, which I purchased from Monarch Watch last spring. My adult son and I previewed it when we first got it and thought it was quite good. Last week I finally got around to using it in my classroom. We invited another classroom to watch it with us. Approximately thirty kindergartners through second graders were totally engrossed for the duration of the film. YOU had them spell bound, Thank you for illustrating the perils of the monarch caterpillar so well. The detailed and close up images of the life cycle were also amazing. The day after we watched it, we had the pleasure of witnessing two caterpillars pupate, and it was the kids who noticed it was happening. They were thrilled to have what they had seen in your video verified by a real life experience. So, thank you for supplying a really great teaching tool. I will recommend it to other teachers I know. I assume you still get some profit from it. It was very nice to meet you at the IBBA release earlier this month. Now I am really looking forward to our IBBA video.
